Q. What if we usually only have 15 - 20 people attend our programs? That is a tough question. I’ve encountered small audiences before and we’ve managed...but truthfully, it is stressful and not as much fun. Here’s the deal. The kids in the audience ARE the show. I can’t say that enough. I move the stories along but the kids act them out. Each show requires approximately 20+ volunteers ages 5 and up. If the audience is really small - everyone will be on stage and there won’t be an audience. If the audience is made up of babies and toddlers instead of your primary reading group (K-5) I won’t be able to have volunteers. If you are worried about the number of primary readers attending you might join with another local library, have attendance sign ups, or have attendance to you programs be a requirement for program prizes. If you really feel that you won’t have an audience to speak of - perhaps this show isn’t the correct fit for your programming.
Q. What kind of stories do you tell? I choose books, fairy tales, poems, tall tales, and legends that go along with Iowa summer reading theme.
Q: What do you charge? The Creations With A Twist 2012 Story Time Stage Show will be $200.00. For libraries within a 45 mile radius of Ankeny, Iowa the program fee includes mileage. For those libraries that are outside of that radius there is a .55 per mile charge for each mile to your location. At this time I am only charging that fee one way. I also offer splitting the travel fee between library shows booked on the same day in the same area. I can book up to 3 shows per day if they are in the same area. We need to allow for travel time / set up time / and tear down. For more information on this please email me.
Q. Will you send a contract? How do we pay? Once we have agreed on a date and time I email you a contract. It will need to be filled in completely, signed and either emailed or mailed back to me by the date stated on the contract, along with a deposit. The contract will state if there is a travel fee and how that is figured. If your library has a policy regarding program fees - email or call me and I will work with you. The remainder of the payment is due when I arrive at your library for the show.
